Back to Bold: A Celebration of Women Entrepreneurs

On September 16, we gathered at Lidera – MediaTIC for our Back to Bold event, a space that brought together women entrepreneurs from different generations, countries, and backgrounds. It was a vibrant encounter, moderated by Rachel Schall Thomas, co-founder and CEO of Lean In, where we shared real stories about what it means to be an entrepreneur today: challenging narratives, opening paths, and, above all, daring to be bold.

I had the honor of joining the panel alongside Rangtiem G. Hoomkwap, Alma Ortiz, and Neema Balolebwami Nelly. For me, it was an incredibly moving experience: I recently decided to leave my job in the tech sector to start my own venture, and being able to share this personal leap in such an inspiring setting was a true gift.

Freedom, purpose, and impact

Throughout the conversation, it became clear that, although each story was unique, there was a common thread connecting us all:

• The courage to pursue our own vision. 

• The desire to leave a meaningful mark in the world.

  
  

We are women who have chosen to take the reins of our own journey. Not always with all the answers, but with the determination to build projects that reflect our values and our purpose.

We heard diverse experiences and practical advice, but one idea stood out powerfully: “Just do it.” Start small, but start. Clarity comes from action, not from waiting for the perfect plan, the perfect moment, or the perfect team.

A shared celebration

What truly made this gathering special was the sense of community. Being surrounded by women from such different paths, yet united by the courage to shape something of their own, created a unique energy in the room. Each story was both a mirror in which to see ourselves and a spark that ignited new ideas and motivation.

It was also a reminder that entrepreneurship doesn’t have to be a solitary journey. Strength comes when we share learnings, when we support one another, and when we dare to weave networks that multiply our impact. That collective energy —born from shared voices, emotions, and connections— is what gives us the momentum to keep moving forward with greater confidence and determination.

None of this would have been possible without the generosity of the people, organizations, and companies that supported the initiative — from the teams at Barcelona Activa to those who contributed with detail and care, like malo&co, Grupo Freixenet, Halitta Foods, and Fundació Roure. A special thanks as well to the incredible Lean In Barcelona team, who make spaces like this possible.

This event left us with many reflections on courage, purpose, and community. And perhaps the best way to capture that spirit is with one of the questions that has guided Lean In from the beginning, posed by Sheryl Sandberg in Lean In: “What would you do if you weren’t afraid?”.

Back to Bold: Una celebración de mujeres emprendedoras

El 16 de septiembre nos reunimos en Lidera – MediaTIC para nuestro evento Back to Bold, un espacio que reunió a mujeres emprendedoras de distintas generaciones, países y trayectorias. Fue un encuentro vibrante, moderado por Rachel Schall Thomas, cofundadora y CEO de Lean In, donde compartimos historias reales sobre lo que significa emprender hoy: desafiar narrativas, abrir camino y, sobre todo, atreverse a ser valientes.

Tuve el honor de participar en el panel junto a  Rangtiem G. Hoomkwap, Alma Ortiz y Neema Balolebwami Nelly. Para mí fue una experiencia muy emocionante: hace poco decidí dejar mi trabajo en el sector tecnológico para iniciar mi propio proyecto, y poder compartir este salto personal en un entorno tan inspirador fue un verdadero regalo.

Libertad, propósito e impacto

Durante la conversación quedó claro que, aunque cada historia era única, había un hilo común que nos conectaba a todas:

• La valentía de apostar por nuestra propia visión.

• El deseo de dejar una huella significativa en el mundo.

  
  

Somos mujeres que hemos elegido tomar las riendas de nuestro propio camino. No siempre con todas las respuestas, pero sí con la determinación de construir proyectos que reflejen nuestros valores y nuestro propósito.

Escuchamos experiencias diversas y consejos prácticos, pero hubo una idea que destacó con fuerza: “Just do it”. Empieza pequeño, pero empieza. La claridad surge de la acción, no de esperar al plan perfecto, al momento perfecto o al equipo perfecto.

Una celebración compartida

Lo que realmente hizo especial este encuentro fue el sentido de comunidad. Estar rodeadas de mujeres de trayectorias tan distintas, pero unidas por el coraje de crear algo propio, generó una energía única en la sala. Cada historia fue a la vez un espejo en el que vernos reflejadas y una chispa que encendió nuevas ideas y motivación.

También fue un recordatorio de que emprender no tiene por qué ser un camino en soledad. La fuerza surge cuando compartimos aprendizajes, cuando nos apoyamos mutuamente y cuando nos atrevemos a tejer redes que multiplican nuestro impacto. Esa energía colectiva —nacida de voces, emociones y conexiones compartidas— es la que nos da el impulso para seguir avanzando con mayor confianza y determinación.

Nada de esto habría sido posible sin la generosidad de las personas, organizaciones y empresas que apoyaron la iniciativa — desde los equipos de Barcelona Activa hasta quienes contribuyeron con detalle y cuidado, como malo&co, Grupo Freixenet, Halitta Foods y Fundació Roure. Un agradecimiento especial también al increíble equipo de Lean In Barcelona, que hace posible espacios como este.

Este evento nos dejó muchas reflexiones sobre el coraje, el propósito y la comunidad. Y quizá la mejor manera de capturar ese espíritu sea con una de las preguntas que ha guiado a Lean In desde el principio, planteada por Sheryl Sandberg en Lean In: “¿Qué harías si no tuvieras miedo?”
